The former Knicks guard, who currently plays for the Thunder, told SLAM that he is considering trying out for the NFL.

"I might go play football," Robinson told the magazine. "Do something that nobody’s tried to do."

Though the NBA lockout has just started with no end in sight, there is optimism the NFL’s could end within the next two weeks. Robinson was drafted by the Knicks out of Washington, where the 5-9 guard originally went to play football. Robinson did play cornerback for a year before committing to basketball.

"If I can, I would love to play football a little bit," Robinson said. "I’ve been doing a little bit of training."

The Knicks traded Robinson, who clashed with coach Mike D’Antoni, to the Celtics in March 2010. A year later Boston sent him to Oklahoma City as part of the Kendrick Perkins-Jeff Green deal.

"Why wouldn’t you want to have an NBA player that can play football try out?" said Robinson, who added that he would play basketball in Europe if the NFL lockout isn’t resolved. "That’s a lot of publicity for your organization."

Lakers forward Ron Artest said last year he wanted to play for the Jets, but the player now known as Metta World Peace has not commented on his lockout plans.
