Yankees radio color commentator Suzy Waldman, known for her shrieking outbursts supporting the home team, took the Mariners to task Wednesday after Derek Jeter was hit by a pitch. On Tuesday night, three separate Yankees batters were plunked by Mariners ace Felix Hernandez, including one that broke Alex Rodriguez’s hand.
“You know, I’m sure none of these are on purpose, but these are major league pitchers and that’s enough of this, Seattle,” Waldman complained.
Of course, Waldman’s most famous outburst came in 2007 when Roger Clemens announced his return at Yankee Stadium from George Steinbrenner’s box. Her overdramatic scream “of all the dramatic things I’ve ever seen” has lived on in local pop culture.
In this particular clip, though, her chiding of the Mariners is nearly rivaled by play-by-play man John Sterling describing Jeter’s actions as “so cute.”
