Sylvester Stallone’s son Sage Moonblood was found dead in his Los Angeles home yesterday from what sources told Page Six was a suspected overdose.
Sage’s body was found at his apartment home on Mulholland Terrace in Studio City, his lawyer George Braunstein confirmed. Sage, the older of Stallone’s two sons, was 36.
Braunstein told us last night, “I have just gotten a report that he was found dead at his home.”
Sage, son of Sly Stallone and Sasha Czack, “was in good spirits, and working on all kinds of projects,” a shaken Braunstein said, adding, “He was planning on getting married. I am just devastated. He was an extremely wonderful, loving guy. This is a tragedy. He wasn’t depressed.”
Sage made his acting debut alongside his famous father in 1990’s “Rocky V.” He then moved into directing and producing. But sources tell us he had recently run into financial woes. Sage had two movie companies, Moonblood Pictures and Grindhouse Releasing, which restores and preserves B-movies.
One source said, “He had a movie company and recently had some financial problems, but he wouldn’t turn to his father for money.”
The source added that Sage’s girlfriend found him unconscious at his home, and pills were found at the scene. However, it was not immediately known if his death was accidental or a suicide.
A rep for the LAPD told us, “There is no suspicion of foul play or criminal activity.” The rep added that officers went to Sage’s home for a “welfare check” when friends couldn’t get in touch with him and asked cops to investigate. Police say the case has now been referred to the Los Angeles coroner.
Sly, 66, had been at Comic-Con in San Diego on Thursday. His rep, Michelle Bega, told us, “Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son. His compassion and thoughts are with Sage’s mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man. His loss will be felt forever.”Follow @PageSix
