BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Post has learned Adeinis Hechavarria is going to get more money than the $8 million Jose Iglesias Iglesias got from the Red Sox.

However, it won’t be from the Yankees. And it has nothing to do with the Yankees not wanting to spend the money on the Cuban refugee shortstop.

According to an industry source Hechavarria is close to signing a $10 million deal with the Blue Jays because he didn’t envision himself playing short for the Yankees.

Hechavarria, 21, was leery of Derek Jeter’s impending extension that will keep him at short for the foreseeable future.

Having seen Hechavarria work out often in the Dominican Republic, the Yankees were high on the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder with a body that resembled a young Alfonso Soriano. Some in the organization believed he could have made the switch to second base if the Yankees wanted to deal Robinson Cano when his contract expires following the 2011 season.

However, it appears that Hechavarria didn’t want to wait until Jeter is no longer the Yankees’ shortstop.

The Tigers also had interest in Hechavarria, whose bat is considered stronger than Iglesias.

I think it was a bargain.... $2.5M a year? Not bad. Swisher makes more than 2X that.

Now this clown claims jeter is dating hot babies? Sick, very sick. We suspected there was a jeter/NAMBLA/blogger connection and this proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt. This guy has a million more ugly posts as well.

The Yankees are not going to give a kid with no MLB experience !0 Million. The Blue Jays will b/c they want to show baseball that they spend the money they get from the luxury tax! So mnowick think for one second...you do not think the Yankees could outbid for this kid if they wanted too? The Yankees passed on Chapman by the way. They were scared off by his wildness! Also if you are an organization that was burned more than once when dipping in the Cuban market...I would be leery too!! So don't fret Yankee fans a supposedly 21 year old SS (probably 25) does not faze the Yankees!!

Nice to see the Yanks getting passed over by these free agents. 1st the pitcher Chapman, now this kid. I used to hate it when Steinbrenner made sure his team signed anyone with potential by throwing more money at them than was reasonable.
