A Taiwanese man extradited to New York on charges of smuggling military equipment home is being held without bail.
Yen Ching Peng allegedly tried to buy infrared laser-aiming devices, thermal weapon sights and other contraband from an undercover agent.
He also allegedly asked the agent to give military lasers to an associate, Peter Liu, who took a plea and was sentenced to 30 months.
