The Torrington (Conn.) Board of Approved Umpires recently gave a Lifetime Achievement Award to Tom Barbero, who not only was a youth baseball ump for nearly 30 years but also did four years in jail for sexu ally assaulting three teen boys in the '90s. Lauded board prez Lou Fracasso: "Tommy was one of the greats." Umpires or perverts? . . .
